Care DescriptionAnacropora is part of the Acroporidae family along with popular corals such as Acropora and Montipora. I always thought they looked like a more branching version of a Montipora setosa, especially when you look at how the polyps are spaced out on the body and how there are no terminal polyps at the tips of each branch like an Acropora would have. Please see below for more care tips.

General Description:Anacropora, belonging to the Acroporidae family, is characterized by its bright fluorescent green/yellow body and polyps. Unlike Acropora, it displays a branching structure without terminal polyps at the tips of each branch, resembling a more elaborate version of Montipora setosa.

Demands and Hardiness:Anacropora specimens are hardy and can tolerate high nutrient levels and turbid water flow in aquarium settings. They are suitable for hobbyists seeking resilient corals that adapt well to varying conditions.

Lighting:For optimal growth and color development, Anacropora corals require low to moderate lighting levels, ranging from 100 to 200 PAR. Adjusting the light intensity can influence the colony's coloration, with higher light levels enhancing lighter shades and richer colors manifesting under medium intensity.

Water Flow:Maintaining a medium to high water flow is recommended for Anacropora corals. Adequate flow ensures nutrient distribution and waste removal within the colony, preventing internal issues and potential collapse. While strong flow is beneficial, direct and sustained high flow should be avoided to prevent coral damage.

Feeding:Anacropora corals primarily feed on Phytoplankton and Zooplankton, requiring small liquid and powdery foods for sustenance. Although not known for elaborate feeding displays, providing occasional small meaty fare such as rotifers and amino acids can support their nutritional needs.

Propagation:Due to extensive propagation efforts in captivity, Anacropora is a promising candidate for aquaculture and sustainable harvesting. With ongoing initiatives, it is feasible to ensure the long-term viability and availability of Electric Lemonade Anacropora forbesi.

Localization & Habitat:Anacropora corals are native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found in islands like Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef. Their natural habitat includes diverse marine environments where they thrive among vibrant reef ecosystems.
