General Description

Waving Hand Anthelia is a fast-growing soft coral known for its large swaying "hands" resembling Xenia, though without the pulsing behavior. This coral is a robust addition suitable for soft coral systems and mixed reef tanks, especially for beginners due to its tolerance for varying water conditions.

Demands and Hardiness

Anthelia thrives in setups with moderate to high water movement, benefiting from abundant flow for its characteristic waving behavior. This coral showcases rapid growth once acclimated properly, settling in quickly post-transport despite potential challenges in shipping.

Lighting

Pink Waving Hand Anthelia exhibits versatility in lighting requirements, tolerating a wide range from low to high intensity. Starting them in lower light areas when exposed to intense lighting initially is recommended to aid in adjustment.

Water Flow

Moderate to high water movement is ideal for Anthelia, with waving hand behavior accentuated in setups with ample current. While they can adapt to lower flow conditions, their characteristic swaying is best displayed in environments with substantial water flow.

Feeding

Anthelia typically do not require frequent feeding, primarily subsisting on phytoplankton and similarly sized microfauna present in the water column. Liquid and powdery foods containing particles ranging from 20um to 1mm are suitable for supplemental feeding if needed.

Propagation

This coral genus is extensively propagated in captivity, making Anthelia an excellent candidate for aquaculture. Known for its rapid growth rate, it proliferates quickly under proper care, contributing to its popularity among hobbyists.

Localization & Habitat

Pink Waving Hand Anthelia is native to the Indo-Pacific region, specifically found in the islands of Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef. Thriving in these warm waters with specific salinity levels, pH, and alkalinity ranges, Anthelia adds vibrancy to diverse marine ecosystems.
