General Description: Duncan corals, also known as Whisker corals, are popular LPS corals available in various colors. They are considered hardy and peaceful additions to reef aquariums, making them a favored choice among hobbyists.
Demands and Hardiness: Duncans, like the Aussie Teal Duncan, are easy to care for and known for their peaceful nature. They are relatively hardy and can thrive in different types of reef tank setups, making them an excellent choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike.
Lighting: These corals prefer low to moderate lighting conditions. They are not overly sensitive to the intensity of light, making them adaptable to varying lighting setups in aquariums.
Water Flow: Duncans prefer low to moderate water flow levels. High water movement can hinder their ability to fully extend and capture food particles from the water column, leading to potential feeding issues.
Feeding: Duncans rely heavily on their symbiotic zooxanthellae for nutrition. While they can obtain some nutrients through photosynthesis, supplementing their diet with zooplankton, Mysis shrimp, and various powdered or pellet foods ranging from 0.1mm to 13mm can benefit their overall health.
