General Description

The Neon Green Caulastrea Coral, also known as Bullseye, Candy, or Trumpet Coral, is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral characterized by its vibrant green coloration and peaceful nature within a reef aquarium. This species requires ample room for potential growth and thrives in a variety of lighting conditions.

Demands and Hardiness

To ensure the well-being of Caulastrea Coral, it is essential to provide moderate water flow within the aquarium. Additionally, maintaining stable water parameters with a temperature between 22.2-25.6 degrees Celsius, a pH of 8.1-8.4, a specific gravity of 1.023-1.025, and a carbonate hardness (KH) level of 8-12 is crucial for their overall health.

Lighting

Neon Green Caulastrea Corals can adapt to different lighting setups, including power compacts, VHO, T-5's, and metal halides. In tanks illuminated by metal halides, positioning the coral in a mid to low location is recommended, while under other lighting sources, a mid to high placement is more suitable. Optimal coloration can be achieved with metal halide lighting and moderate water flow.

Water Flow

Moderate water flow is ideal for Neon Green Caulastrea Coral, providing the necessary movement for nutrient uptake and waste removal. Ensuring consistent but not overpowering water flow within the aquarium promotes the overall well-being of the coral.

Feeding

These corals primarily feed on Mysis, Krill, and other medium to large-sized pellets ranging from 5mm to 50mm. Supplementing their diet with zooplankton enhances their nutrition and supports their growth and vitality.

Propagation

Caulastrea Coral is a suitable candidate for aquaculture and propagation efforts. Through branching growth, the coral multiplies by forming peanut-shaped structures that eventually separate into two heads. With proper care and time, a sustainable propagation process can be achieved in captivity.

Localization & Habitat

Neon Green Caulastrea Corals are found throughout the Indo-Pacific region and the Great Barrier Reef. They typically inhabit reef structures in shallow, well-lit areas with moderate water flow, showcasing their adaptability to various marine environments.
