General Description
Galaxea, also known as Galaxy Corals, are hardy stony corals characterized by short tentacles tipped in white. They are known for their aggressive nature and quick growth of additional heads. This coral species boasts long sweeper tentacles, requiring ample space to thrive.
Demands and Hardiness (Setup)
Galaxea corals are hardy and can adapt well to different conditions. They require moderate water movement and do not demand high-intensity lighting. Interestingly, Galaxea tends to perform poorly in reef aquariums with medium to high light levels. When fragmenting this coral, the resulting frags are typically sized between 1/2" to 1".
Lighting
Galaxea corals do not necessitate high levels of lighting compared to some other coral species. They can thrive under normal output fluorescent lighting with minimal difficulty. However, it is essential to avoid exposing them to intense light, as this can adversely affect their health.
Water Flow
Maintaining moderate water movement is crucial for the well-being of Galaxea corals. They thrive best in aquariums with gentle to moderate water flow, ensuring they receive adequate nutrients and oxygen.
Feeding
Galaxea corals heavily rely on the products produced by their zooxanthellae. To supplement their diet, feeding them finely ground meaty foods is beneficial. It is recommended to provide food with a paste-like consistency due to the small size of their polyps. These corals consume Zooplankton, Mysis shrimp, and powdered or pellet food within a specific size range.

Localization & Habitat
Galaxea corals are predominantly found in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically on islands such as Fiji, Tonga, the Solomon Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef. Their natural habitat consists of shallow waters with diverse marine life, where they play a vital role in the reef ecosystem.
