Care DescriptionLeptoseris are commonly known as a wrinkle coral but almost no one in the hobby refers to this coral by its common name. Leptoseris were made popular a few years ago when bright orange color morphs came onto the scene and blew everyone away with their intense fluorescence. They are one of the most dazzling corals under actinic lighting because in addition to their bright coloration, they almost take on a metallic appearance. Please see below for additional care tips for Leptoseris.

General Description:
Leptoseris, also known as wrinkle coral, gained popularity due to their stunning bright orange color morphs with intense fluorescence, almost appearing metallic under actinic lighting. The Hulk Leptoseris has a vibrant green base with highlighter green speckles or streaks.

Demands and Hardiness:
Leptoseris are challenging to feed, requiring only liquid and powdery foods like Phytoplankton and Zooplankton. They have small mouths and struggle to consume large particles, making feeding efforts challenging. Despite this, they are highly adaptable to different lighting systems, adjusting colors accordingly.

Lighting:
Leptoseris thrive in shaded areas of the reef, commonly found under overhangs and lower slopes. Low lighting is recommended, but they can adapt to different lighting conditions, changing colors to compensate. They particularly fluoresce under actinic LED lighting.

Water Flow:
Keeping Leptoseris in low to moderate water flow areas is advisable to prevent stress and ensure full extension. Excessive flow can lead to stress and hamper feeding opportunities for this coral species.

Feeding:
Leptoseris are challenging to feed due to their small mouths and preference for small particle sizes. Liquid and powdery foods like Phytoplankton and Zooplankton (20um-1mm particles) are suitable for their diet.

Propagation:
Leptoseris are excellent candidates for aquaculture due to their fast healing from cuttings and productive growth patterns. Their ability to quickly heal and grow makes them suitable for propagation efforts.

Localization & Habitat:
The Hulk Leptoseris can be found in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically in Indonesia and the Great Barrier Reef. They typically inhabit reef areas characterized by low light levels, such as under overhangs and on lower reef slopes.
