General Description:

Psammocora is a small polyp stony coral with a velvety appearance from afar, revealing individual polyps up close. This coral species is fast-growing and can thrive in a wide range of tank conditions.

Demands and Hardiness:

Psammocora is relatively uncommon and underappreciated, but it is a hardy coral that is tolerant of various tank conditions. It can adapt well to different lighting, water flow, and feeding regimes.

Lighting:

Psammocora thrives in low to moderate light conditions, although it can tolerate a wide range of lighting intensities. Initially, it is recommended to expose them to low to medium light to prevent shock from intense lighting.

Water Flow:

Moderate to strong water flow is ideal for Psammocora. High flow conditions are appreciated by this coral species, especially when placed in a tank with other Small Polyp Stony corals.

Feeding:

Psammocora feeds on small particles like phytoplankton and zooplankton. They can benefit from liquid or powdery foods, and a light dusting of rotifers or phytoplankton may further enhance their growth and coloration.

Propagation:

Psammocora has been successfully propagated in captivity and is considered an excellent candidate for aquaculture. With proper care and attention, sustainable harvesting of Psammocora can be achieved over time.

Localization & Habitat:

Psammocora is native to the Indo-Pacific region, primarily found around islands such as Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef. They are commonly seen in reef environments with moderate to high water movement and diverse marine life.
