General Description
The Captive-Bred Gold Tetra, belonging to the Characidae family, is a small fish with a silvery-grey body and some coloration on its fins, lacking the metallic gold sheen seen in wild-caught specimens. They have a rounded and blunt appearance, making them a peaceful addition to community aquariums.

Aquarium Setup
Gold Tetras thrive in an established planted aquarium of at least 10 gallons, preferably shared with other small, peaceful fish in schools of 8-10 individuals. The water conditions should have a pH range of 6.0-6.5, a hardness level (KH) between 4-8, and a temperature set between 22.2-25.0°C. It's recommended to refer to the specific requirements mentioned in the above table.

Behaviour
Known for their peaceful temperament, Gold Tetras prefer living in schools and exhibit social behavior within their groups. These fish are best kept in a tranquil environment with other non-aggressive tank mates to thrive comfortably.

Feeding and Diet
As omnivores, Gold Tetras have a diverse diet that includes prepared flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms, and tubifex. Keeping them well-fed and offering a variety of food ensures their overall health and vitality in the aquarium setting.

Reproduction & Dimorphism
Gold Tetras typically spawn on the undersides of broad-leaved plants in a breeding tank with warm, soft, and acidic water. Male Gold Tetras can be distinguished by their hooklets and white-edged fins, while females are relatively smaller, aiding in easy identification. After spawning, the eggs usually hatch within 24 hours, and the fry can be fed infusoria.

Habitat and Distribution
In their natural habitat, Gold Tetras can be found in the freshwater rivers and streams of specific regions. These habitats typically consist of slow-moving waters abundant with vegetation, reflecting their preference for planted aquarium setups in captivity.
