General Description
The Corydoras Seussi, also known as C027, is closely related to C. gossei with a distinguishing less rounded snout. Belonging to the Callichthyidae family and Corydoradinae subfamily, these peaceful freshwater fish can grow up to 7.0cm in length.
Aquarium Setup
For optimal well-being of Corydoras Seussi, a tank size of at least 71 liters with fine sand substrate, smooth rocks, chunks of bogwood, and dense plantings is recommended. Avoid undergravel filtration, maintain clean substrates, and ensure well-oxygenated water with a pH level between 6.0-7.2 and a temperature range of 22-26°C (see table).
Behaviour
These fish are very peaceful and thrive in community tanks with small characins, cyprinids, anabantoids, dwarf cichlids, and other peaceful catfish. Keeping them in groups of at least 6 individuals enhances their confidence and activity levels significantly.
Feeding and Diet
Corydoras Seussi readily accepts sinking dried foods, as well as live and frozen varieties like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and chopped earthworms. A varied diet enriches their nutritional intake and overall health.
Reproduction & Dimorphism
While details on captive breeding are scarce, setting up a breeding tank with proper conditions, a ratio of 2 males per female, and conditioning the group on diverse live, frozen, and dried foods can stimulate spawning behaviour. Sexing is easier from above, with females appearing rounder and broader-bodied, especially when full of eggs.
Habitat and Distribution
These fish are native to the Rio Mamoré basin and Rio Poranga in Brazil. Specific habitat information is currently unavailable.
All information provided should serve as a comprehensive guide for the successful care and management of Corydoras Seussi in aquarium settings.
