General Description
The Brachydanio Sp. 'Hikari,' commonly known as Hikari 'Danio,' is a peaceful species of fish belonging to the Cyprinidae family. It was first introduced to the aquarium trade in 2002 and is distinguished by its yellowish-green body color in males and blue color in females. This species reaches a maximum size of 6.5cm and is classified under the order Cypriniformes.

Aquarium Setup
The Hikari 'Danio' thrives in a well-furnished community tank with other small cyprinids, tetras, livebearers, rainbowfishes, anabantoids, catfishes, and loaches, requiring a tank size of at least 160 liters. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 8-10 specimens for a more natural display. The tank setup should include plants, rocks, gravel, driftwood roots, and aquatic plants like Microsorum, Bolbitis, or Anubias.

Behaviour
This species is characterized as very peaceful, ideal for community tanks. They exhibit schooling behavior, and maintaining them in decent numbers reduces stress, enhances coloration, and promotes natural interactions. Male individuals showcase their best colors when competing for female attention within the group.

Feeding and Diet
Hikari 'Danios' are unfussy eaters, accepting most foods in the aquarium. A staple diet of high-quality dried food should be supplemented with live or frozen options like bloodworm, Daphnia, and Artemia for optimal coloration and overall health.

Reproduction & Dimorphism
As egg-scattering spawners, these fish do not display parental care. In a well-conditioned, planted aquarium, fry may appear naturally, but controlled breeding can be achieved in separate containers with suitable spawning media. Males exhibit yellowish-green colors, while females are predominantly blue.

Habitat and Distribution
These fish are found in the Tanintharyi River drainage, which is a tributary of the Tenasserim River system in Tanintharyi Division, southern Myanmar. While specific habitat details are unavailable, they are likely to inhabit quiet, slow-moving sections of streams and minor rivers.
