The species has been subject to nomenclatural issues but is now recognized within the Cyclocheilichthys genus, with seven currently identified species.

Aquarium Setup

To house Cyclocheilos Enoplos, a large aquarium of at least 15000 liters is required, alongside a mature filter system and regular water changes of 50-70% of the tank volume weekly. Decor is considered relatively unimportant for this species.

Behaviour

These fish are relatively peaceful, particularly with larger fish that are not viewed as prey, showcasing a docile demeanor within the aquarium environment.

Feeding and Diet

Young Cyclocheilos Enoplos can be fed chironomid larvae, small earthworms, chopped prawn, and similar foods, while adults can consume larger items and dried pellets, although pellets should not dominate their diet.

Information about the reproduction of Cyclocheilos Enoplos is linked to its habitat, furnishing insights into migratory behaviors during spawning seasons. Sexually mature females are typically thicker-bodied compared to males.

Habitat and Distribution

This species has a broad natural distribution spanning regions southwestwards from Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam through Thailand to Peninsular Malaysia and several islands.
