General Description
The Kryptopterus Vitreolus, commonly known as the Glass Catfish, has a transparent body, making it a unique addition to aquariums. Identified as a new species in 2013, it is often confused with similar congeners. This species is relatively small, reaching a maximum size of 6.5cm, and is best kept in a peaceful tank environment.
Aquarium Setup
For optimal care, the Glass Catfish should be housed in a well-decorated aquarium with dim lighting. It thrives in setups with surface vegetation and benefits from the addition of dried leaf litter or alder cones to mimic its natural habitat. Behaviour
Glass Catfish are generally peaceful but may prey on eggs or fry. They are timid and do not fare well with larger, more robust tankmates. These fish prefer to form tight schools, so it is recommended to keep a group of six or more individuals for their well-being.

In their natural habitat, Glass Catfish are predators, feeding on small invertebrates and zooplankton. In captivity, they accept dried foods but should also be offered a diet of small live and frozen foods like Artemia nauplii and grindal worms to ensure their nutritional needs are met.
