General Description
The Synodontis Eupterus Catfish, also known as the Featherfin Squeaker, hails from the rivers and lakes of Africa. This wide-bodied catfish features pale coloration adorned with numerous black spots.
Aquarium Setup
For the Synodontis Eupterus Catfish, a tank of at least 200 litres with a preference for a sandy bottom, large roots, and crevices for hiding is ideal (see table). Maintaining good water conditions, particularly sensitivity to nitrates, is crucial. The species enjoys a current in the aquarium and can coexist with other Synodontis species or similarly sized African Cichlids.
Behaviour
Synodontis Eupterus Catfish are semi-aggressive by temperament. They are known to be diggers and appreciate a tank setup that allows them to exhibit this behavior.
Feeding and Diet
As omnivores, Synodontis Eupterus Catfish should be fed a varied diet that includes sinking catfish pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and high-quality flake food.
Reproduction & Dimorphism
Despite efforts, the successful breeding of Synodontis Eupterus Catfish in aquariums has not been achieved to date.
Habitat and Distribution
The natural habitat of the Synodontis Eupterus Catfish includes rivers and lakes across Africa.
