General Description
The Synodontis Flavitaeniatus Catfish, known for its striking black coloration adorned with silver lines and spots, is native to the Zaire Basin in Africa. Renowned for its unique trait of occasionally hanging upside down, this species is favored by aquarists for its scavenging behavior and relatively non-aggressive nature.
Aquarium Setup
This catfish thrives in an aquarium of 50 gallons or more, predominantly furnished with a fine sandy substrate and ample roots and crevices for hiding. They prefer good water quality, are sensitive to nitrates, and appreciate the presence of a moderate current. It can coexist with other Synodontis species, African Cichlids of similar size, or even be kept as a schooling fish.
Behaviour
Exhibiting a semi-aggressive temperament, the Synodontis Flavitaeniatus Catfish is generally peaceful towards tank mates but may display territorial behavior, especially during breeding periods. They are not excessive diggers, making them suitable for larger planted aquariums.
Feeding and Diet
