General Description

Hygrophila corymbosa, commonly known as Hygrophila corymbosa 'Red', is a fast-growing aquatic plant belonging to the Acanthaceae family. It is a stem plant that thrives in medium to high light conditions and prefers a temperature range of 24-28°C. This plant is utilized in open tanks as a semi-emersed species, suitable for background, midground, or Street (Dutch style) aquascaping layouts.

Aquarium Suitability

With its easy care requirements and fast growth, Hygrophila corymbosa 'Red' is highly suitable for aquariums. It can be cultivated both emersed and submerged, making it a versatile addition to various tank setups.

Demands and Hardiness

This plant demonstrates a preference for moderate to high lighting, a pH range of 5.5-7.5, and a temperature tolerance between 18-30°C. It benefits from the presence of 10-40mg/l of carbon dioxide, 2-18 dKH of carbonate hardness, and 0.1-3mg/l of phosphate. Notably, Hygrophila corymbosa 'Red' is not winter-hardy for outdoor use in colder climates.

Aquascaping & Usage

Hygrophila corymbosa 'Red' serves as an attractive element in aquascaping designs, particularly in creating lush backgrounds or midground areas within the aquarium. Its vibrant red-hued leaves can add a striking contrast to the overall aesthetic, especially in Street-style aquascapes.
