General Description
Helanthium bolivianum "latifolius" is a plant from the family Alismataceae, previously known as Echinodorus latifolius, belonging to the Helanthium genus. It is often confused with other plants from the group of H. bolivianum, such as H. bolivianum "quadricostatus", due to its stiff leaf rosettes and narrowly lanceolate emersed leaf blades with an acute tip. The plant forms dense grass-like lawns when used in aquascaping.

Aquarists can find Helanthium bolivianum "latifolius" suitable for their tanks, as it is classified as an easy plant to care for and has a fast growth rate. It can be used in midground, nano tanks, and as a foreground or ground cover within groups.
Demands and Hardiness
Helanthium bolivianum "latifolius" requires medium to high light, a pH range of 5-7.5, and a temperature between 20-26°C. It tolerates a broader temperature range of 10-30°C and thrives in water conditions with 10-40mg/l of CO2, 0-14 dKH of carbonate hardness, 0.01-0.5mg/l of iron, 10-50mg/l of nitrate, 0.1-3mg/l of phosphate, and 5-30mg/l of potassium. It is not suitable for outdoor use in colder climates.
