General Description:
Anubias barteri var. coffeifolia is an aquatic plant classified under the Araceae family, known for its distinctive orange-brown sprouting leaves that transition to dark green as they mature. The plant features brownish-red new leaf stalks and strongly arched tissue between lateral veins, reminiscent of the coffee bush's leaves.
Aquarium Suitability:
This plant is suitable for aquariums and is considered very easy to care for. It grows slowly when cultivated submerged and is recommended to be tied to rocks or driftwood using twine, where it will attach itself with its roots.
Demands and Hardiness:
The plant thrives in a temperature range of 22-26°C, with a tolerance range from 12-30°C. It requires a pH level between 5-8 and moderate lighting ranging from low to high. Adequate levels of carbon dioxide (5-40mg/l) and nutrients such as nitrate (10-50mg/l) and phosphate (0.1-3mg/l) are essential for its growth.
Aquascaping & Usage:
Anubias barteri var. coffeifolia can be utilized as an epiphyte on hardscape, making it suitable for midground or foreground placement in aquarium setups. Its cichlid-proof nature and decorative qualities also make it ideal for group plantings.
