General Description
Cryptocoryne crispatula var. kubotae, commonly known as Kubota's water trumpet, is an aquatic plant originating from Eastern Thailand. This narrow-leaved plant was initially confused with Cryptocoryne tonkinensis but has been recognized as a distinct variety of Cryptocoryne crispatula.
Aquarium Suitability
Occasionally available commercially and from other aquarists, Cryptocoryne kubotae is suited for aquariums due to its midground placement potential and compatibility with nano tanks.
Demands and Hardiness
With a medium difficulty level, this plant has a slow growth rate and requires medium to high lighting. It thrives in water conditions with low to medium levels of carbon dioxide, iron, nitrate, phosphate, and potassium.
Aquascaping & Usage
Ideal for midground placement in aquascapes and suitable for nano tanks, Cryptocoryne kubotae enhances the aesthetic appeal of aquariums with its narrow leaves.
Propagation
Cryptocoryne kubotae propagates through methods such as runners, rhizome division, splitting, and cutting off daughter plants, allowing for the expansion of the plant within the aquarium.
Habitat and Distribution
Naturally found in Eastern Thailand, particularly in the southern and eastern regions of Ubon Ratchathani, Cryptocoryne crispatula var. kubotae thrives in tropical aquatic habitats.
