General Description
Bacopa monnieri, commonly known as Water hyssop, is an aquatic plant found in subtropical and tropical regions worldwide. It thrives along the shores of lakes, riversides, pond edges, and even in slightly saline areas near the seashore. Depending on the water level and season, this plant can grow either emersed with a creeping habit or submersed with upright stems. It produces beautiful light pink flowers in the leaf axils and is recognized as an Ayurvedic medicinal plant known as "brahmi."

Demands and Hardiness

While fertilizing with CO2 is beneficial, it is not mandatory. In environments with high CO2 concentration and intense lighting, ensuring a steady supply of nitrate, phosphate, iron, and micronutrients promotes robust growth. This species can also tolerate low salinity levels, making it adaptable for cultivation in brackish water.
Aquascaping & Usage
