General Description
Ceratopteris richardii, commonly known as Triangle Waterfern, belongs to the species known as Water Sprite, closely resembling Ceratopteris thalictroides but distinguishable by the number of spores per sporangium. In C. richardii, each sporangium contains 16 spores, whereas C. thalictroides holds 32 spores per sporangium.
Aquarium Suitability
The suitability of Ceratopteris richardii for aquariums is unknown. For more information, refer to the plant's specific demands, hardiness, and setup requirements.
Demands and Hardiness
Ceratopteris richardii can thrive in water temperatures ranging from 18-30°C and is classified as a rosette, free-floating submerged plant that can also exist on the water's surface. However, its winter hardiness makes it unsuitable for outdoor use in colder climates.
Aquascaping & Usage
When suitable for aquariums, Triangle Waterfern can be effectively used for aquascaping purposes, adding a natural and dynamic element to the underwater environment.
Propagation
Propagation of Ceratopteris richardii can be achieved through proliferating leaves and spores, facilitating the plant's expansion and reproduction within an aquatic setting.
Habitat and Distribution
Ceratopteris richardii is a member of the Pteridaceae family, typically found in fern-rich habitats. Its distribution spans regions that cater to its growth requirements, providing suitable conditions for this aquatic plant to flourish.
