The Madagascar Coral Croucher Goby, scientifically known as Caracanthus madagascariensis, is a nano-fish belonging to the Caracanthidae family. This ornate bottom-dweller showcases a striking pink/red coloration with speckled markings, embodying a delightful appearance. Its distinctive compact, gumdrop-like body, vertically compressed for maneuvering through tight spaces amidst reef rubble and coral branches, is covered in fine "hairs," imparting a fuzzy or velvet-like texture. Despite its diminutive size of up to 5.1cm, this fish exudes a vibrant personality, transitioning from cryptic and retreating behaviors to actively observing tank mates and human caretakers.

Aquarium Suitability

With its easy care requirements, the Madagascar Coral Croucher Goby thrives in aquarium settings. Ideally suited for tanks of at least 10 gallons with ample live rock, rubble, and branching corals for shelter and exploration, this peaceful species rarely exhibits aggression towards other fish. However, in smaller setups, it may engage in squabbles with conspecifics, recommending solitary housing, mated pairs, or compatibility with docile tank companions.
