General Description
The Spotted Hawkfish, also known as Threadfin Hawkfish or Blotched Hawkfish, belongs to the Cirrhitidae family under the Cirrhitichthys genus. It can be found in the Western Indian Ocean, specifically in the Maldives, and in the Western Pacific region.
Aquarium Suitability
Considered suitable for smaller aquarium setups, the Spotted Hawkfish requires ample hiding spaces and regular feeding. However, caution is advised when keeping them with peaceful or docile species due to their aggressive nature. They can be a threat to smaller fish and crustaceans, so careful consideration is essential.
Demands, Care, and Hardiness
Hawkfish generally do not have high demands regarding water quality and tank conditions, making them fairly hardy. They are hermaphroditic, able to change gender from female to male as needed, and often exhibit interesting personalities.
