General Description
The Yellowbanded sweetlips, scientifically known as Plectorhinchus lineatus, is a species belonging to the Haemulidae family. These fish, part of the Grunt family, are not commonly found in private aquariums, primarily due to their large size and specific care requirements. They are characterized by fast growth, striped yellow bands along their elongated bodies, and a threat they pose towards small fish, shrimps, bivalves, worms, and snails.
Aquarium Suitability
With an average hardiness rating, these fish are suitable for aquariums but demand very large tank sizes, with a minimum of 2000 liters when fully grown. They are docile in temperament, but aquarists should exercise caution when housing them with more aggressive tank mates.
