General Description

The Axilspot Hogfish, also known as the Panda Hogfish or Polkadot wrasse, is a captivatingly colorful fish with a striking appearance. Juveniles of this species exhibit brown to black coloration adorned with nine white spots, while as they mature, they develop three false eyes and display a beautiful contrast from a fuchsia head to a sunshine yellow tail. A distinct white marking down the body's midpoint gives the impression of the hogfish being half-dipped in shadow and half in light.
