General Description

The Whip Fin Fairy Wrasse, known scientifically as Cirrhilabrus filamentosus, is a species originating from the Indian Ocean. Displaying a brilliant red body with a contrasting white lower half, this wrasse boasts a long dorsal fin that can exceed the length of its body. The dorsal fin is vividly colored in yellow, outlined with blue, with potential variations in coloration based on the fish's mood.

Aquarium Suitability

With a peaceful and active temperament, the Whip Fin Fairy Wrasse is an excellent addition to a fish-only or reef aquarium of 55 gallons or larger. While generally peaceful, they may become territorial if housed with other Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus wrasse species.
