The Emperor Red Snapper (Lutjanus sebae) belongs to the Lutjanidae family, known for being predatory fish that typically feed off fish and various invertebrates. These species, including the Emperor Red Snapper, primarily consume crustaceans, snails, sea urchins, and worms, obtaining their food mostly from the sea bottom. Specimens from the Macolor, Pinjalo, and Rhomboplites genera feed on larger kinds of zooplankton as well. Emperor Red Snappers are generally hardy but are only recommended for large aquariums that cater to their specific needs.

This fish, while hardy, demands special care due to its aggressive nature towards other fish species.
