General Description:The Yellow Goatfish, also known as the Yellowsaddle Goatfish or Goldsaddle Goatfish, showcases a striking solid golden-yellow hue extending from head to tail. A relatively recent addition to the aquarium trade, these fish are gaining popularity for their vibrant coloration and active behaviors.

Aquarium Suitability:Suitable for aquariums of 180 gallons or larger, the Yellow Goatfish requires ample space for swimming and rock formations with hiding spots. Their habit of sifting through the sandy substrate in search of invertebrates necessitates a moderate layer of substrate. It's advisable to keep them with less aggressive tank mates due to their peaceful nature.

Demands, Care, and Hardiness:Considered moderately to difficult to care for, the Yellow Goatfish thrives on a carnivorous diet consisting of varied meaty items. With a high metabolism, they should ideally be fed four to five times a day.

Reef Suitability:Reef compatibility is possible with caution when housing the Yellow Goatfish in a reef aquarium. Careful consideration should be given to tank mates and potential interactions with corals and other reef inhabitants.

Aquarium Setup:For aquarium setup, ensure a substrate depth that allows for sifting behavior, ample swimming space, and adequate hiding spots within rockwork. Maintaining water conditions within the ranges of pH 8.1-8.4, salinity of 1.020-1.025, and a carbonate hardness (KH) of 8-12 is crucial for their well-being.

Behaviour:Yellow Goatfish exhibit a peaceful temperament in the aquarium, contributing energetic activity to the substrate as they scour for food. Their behavior adds a unique dynamic to the lower regions of the tank, making them an interesting addition to a diverse community.

Feeding and Diet:Feeding the Yellow Goatfish a diverse diet of meaty foods is essential for their health and vitality. Their constant foraging behavior and high metabolism require frequent feedings throughout the day to maintain proper nutrition levels.

Habitat and Distribution:In their natural habitat, Yellow Goatfish are found in the Indo-Pacific region, inhabiting sandy bottoms near coral reefs. Their distribution spans from the Red Sea to South Africa, including eastward to the Marquesas Islands and the Hawaiian Islands.

Please note that the Yellow Goatfish does not exhibit dimorphism, and information on captive reproduction is not provided.
