General Description:The Ribbon Moray, also known as the Black leafnosed moray eel, is a captivating species belonging to the Muraenidae family. With its slender, ribbon-like body, this eel can grow up to 120.0cm in length. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, from East Africa to the Tuamoto Islands, and as far north as southern Japan and south to New Caledonia and French Polynesia, including the Marianas and Marshalls.

Aquarium Suitability:Aquarists considering the Ribbon Moray should be aware of its demands and behaviors. This species requires experience, preparation, and extra care due to its specific needs. They are known to be fastidious feeders and may require live food initially to adapt to tank life. Ribbon Morays can pose a threat to smaller fish and crustaceans, making tank mates carefully chosen. Furthermore, they are escape specialists, capable of lifting lids and glass covers, making a secure tank a necessity.

Care and Hardiness:Ribbon Morays have an average hardiness level and a peaceful temperament. They should be fed a large meal every 3-4 days to prevent overeating, which can be harmful to the eel. Feeding these eels a varied diet of raw/fresh whole shrimps or small fish is crucial for their health. Additionally, they can take up to a week to start feeding in the aquarium, so patience is key.
