This species, native to the Western Atlantic including regions like southern Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean Sea, is characterized by its vibrant juvenile colors which tend to fade as they grow larger.

Considered suitable for most aquariums, the Threespot damselfish is known for its hardy nature. However, it is crucial to note its very aggressive behavior, particularly in males, making it advisable to select other damselfish species as tank mates. As they mature, females and smaller individuals exhibit comparatively lesser aggression.
