These colorful fish are often missing their caudal stripe or have incomplete center and head stripes. They are native to the reefs of Oceania, the Indo-Pacific, and the Great Barrier Reef, where they can be found in pairs or small groups within the same anemone.
Aquarium Suitability
Known for their vibrant orange and white colors, Misbar Percula Clownfish are easy to care for, making them suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. They are a great choice for reef aquariums due to their hardy nature and adaptability to various tank conditions. These clownfish are also easy to breed in a home aquarium, with females being the larger of the pair and exhibiting parental care over their eggs.
Demands, Care, and Hardiness
Misbar Percula Clownfish have a semi-aggressive temperament and are best kept in tanks with a minimum size of 113 liters. They thrive in water conditions with a pH range of 8.1-8.4, a specific gravity of 1.020-1.025, and a carbonate hardness (KH) of 8-12. In captivity, they readily accept a diet of meaty foods and herbivore preparations. As they mature, their colors intensify, with black sections between the white stripes darkening with age.
Reef Suitability
Reef enthusiasts will appreciate the Misbar Percula Clownfish's reef compatibility, as they can coexist peacefully with other reef inhabitants. Their association with anemones in the wild makes them a visually striking addition to reef tanks.
Aquarium Setup
When setting up an aquarium for Misbar Percula Clownfish, it is essential to provide ample hiding spaces such as live rock and anemones. A well-oxygenated environment with proper filtration and regular water changes will help maintain the health and vibrancy of these clownfish.
