General Description

The Giant Knobby Cerith Snail (Cerithium nodulosum) is known for its hardworking nature as part of a clean-up crew in reef aquariums. Standing out due to its size and appetite, this snail is an excellent addition for reef tanks, feeding on detritus and various types of algae like film algae, hair algae, diatoms, and some cyanobacteria. Its white coloration is complemented by a uniquely shaped shell featuring a prominent spire, whorls, and protruding knobs, along with creamy areas and black striations for added visual interest. This species, believed to be the largest among Cerith snails, typically inhabits sandy substrates in coral reefs worldwide, also showcasing its presence by cleaning rocks and aquarium glass.
